Guadalup, a Caribbean island in the Lesser Antilles, is a small overseas region of France. The islands in the Caribbean Sea are located in the southeast of Puerto Rico. Its capital is Basse-Terre.
Guadalup is a member of the European Union. The country derives its name from an abbreviated version of what Christopher Columbus said when he arrived here in 1493.
The economy of Guadalup is based on agriculture and tourism. Tourism is the most important sector. The agricultural products grown are as follows; bananas, sugar cane, tropical fruits, vegetables, cattle and goats. Some industrial goods and fuel are obtained through imports.
